The Third Sex is Intersex

I spend a lot of my time talking with people about their sexuality and gender. Over the last couple of years there has been more public talk about a third sex and others openly sharing their truth. Many call the third sex, Intersex.

Three current Libido Lounge members identify as being Intersex. Two are medically diagnosed and one is self appointed. It has been a privilege to learn from these people as they have shared their personal journey's with me and their deepest secret of the issue of their gender.

CBC has a documentary coming up at midnight on the 26th of this month, channel 26, it's an hour long and promised to be riveting and eye-opening.

The sexual identity of a person is usually the first question one asks about a newborn: "Is it a boy or a girl?" To most parents the answer is a simple one. But what about the parents of a child born with both female and male genitals? It's a reality no one dares to speak about, the so-called third sex. Most people are unaware that this situation exists, and institutions are not designed to recognize a sex outside male and female.
